I was supposed to be in Portland right now. I would’ve been spending the night, too, and going back in the morning. However, my coworker Matt decided to skip town without giving notice, so instead of going Portland with Amity I’m here at work.

With little fanfare (probably because nobody is surprised) Paul Wolfowitz, the Deputy Defense Secretary, admits in the July issue of Vanity Fair that WMD was merely a convenient excuse for war. This factoid comes courtesy of The Independent.
Nigerian email scammers from all across Nigeria are making their way to the 3rd annual Nigerian Email Conference (motto: “Write better emails. Make more moneys.”).
The Modern Modular. I swore off houses with wheels, but these actually look fairly impressive. Not bad. Brought to you by Resolution: 4 Architecture.
I got to work an hour ago and I’m playing with the new cat. I decided to name him ‘Battlecat II’ (because I already named the neighbors’ cat Battlecat) and we’ve been having an interesting conversation. He says, “mrrowwr…?” to which I retort, “mwrowr.” Seriously, Battlecat II is about eight, so he’s a little frazzled but still well-mannered and cuddly. It’s fun. I think most of his meowing is in protest of his name, since his battling days are far behind him. He’s an American Shorthair mix. He lived in this house before the company I work for rented it, and the landlord suggested him when we told him we were thinking of getting a cat.
Somehow I don’t find it ironic that now that Iraq has free press, their first action is to blast US policy there. Al-Muajaha.
According to Iowa State University, Catnip oil is more than 10 times more effective than DEET at repelling mosquitoes. I’ve been trying to find it because it sounds like a good thing to have when camping or doing anything where I could be bitten by mosquitoes (West Nile is still a problem). I went to froogle.google.com and searched for it but it’s pretty expensive for the pure stuff (in the neighborhood of $75/oz).
If this website ain’t funky enough for yo’ ass, shizzolate that shiznit.
Just in case your cat didn’t hate you, you can buy embarassing costumes for it.
Panoramas.dk has gigantic, hi-resolution quicktime VR photos of places like the top of everest, angkor wat, and Crater Lake. The files are in the 1-megabyte neighborhood, so if you have a dialup connection consider yourself warned. However, I will note that they are worth the wait.
