As the evening sun faded from a salmon color to a sort of flint gray, I thought back to the salmon I caught that morning, and how gray he was, and how I named him Flint.

It’s that time of year again

“I have to admit we really blew the way we let those attorneys go. You know you’ve lost it when people sympathize with lawyers.” – George W. Bush, on the fired US Attorneys.

Yep, it’s the annual Broadcasters Dinner. Stephen Colbert was not in attendance, which is a shame.

This is just…wow. Some idiot at the US Patent Office granted a patent for the linked list.

This is probably some kind of sign of the information age apocalypse.

I wasn’t familiar with his work, but checking out his Wikipedia entry was well worth my time. The external links section is particularly interesting.

Swift Boat Veterans for…doh!

You did good. You chipped in $50,000 for Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. They smear presidential candidate John Kerry, and he loses the election by a razor-thin margin (or did he even lose?).

So your man got the election, and thanks to typical US quid pro quo you’re appointed as Ambassador to Belgium. Sweet. All the trappist beer and waffles you can stuff down your throat. You just have to make it through the confirmation hearings and you’re in.

Just one problem: John Kerry will be cross-examining you, and he’s still pretty pissed off about that whole not being President thing.

The video of the hearing is somewhat dry, but the premise is funny as hell.

Scurvy be gone

You there! Take off that eyepatch and peg leg. Get yourself over here and check this out: Archive.org, long the home of our friend the Wayback Machine, has lots of music. It’s not bad, either. It’s legal, (which is, I guess, important somehow?) so you can stop living the life of an outlaw, always looking over your shoulder for the fuzz.

They have an archive dedicated to live music.

Of course there’s more than just music. You can also stop pirating those church sermons, they’re free!
